Alameda Chabuca Granda is a viewpoint located between the Government Palace and the Rímac River in the historic center of the city of Lima. It is a place frequented by locals and visitors to the city, and this is mainly due to its location. Because there are not too many places in Lima, from where you can get an overview of the city.
In addition, the park, in the middle of which is a strange red sculpture, has a lot of variety. Therefore, the Alameda Chabuca Granda is the right place for whole families, teenagers, singles and couples. The viewpoint with its park is named after the Peruvian singer Chabuca Granda, known for its criollo waltzes and Afro-Peruvian rhythms.
View from the Alameda Chabuca Granda
Lima has many faces. There is the colonial old town with its magnificent buildings, there is the Rimac river, which winds through the city. Concrete buildings and glass roofs complete the mix. You can see this unique combination of different architectural styles during a visit to the Alameda Chabuca Granda.
In addition, the viewpoint gives the only elevation of Lima, Cerro San Cristóbal. On its green slopes the slums nest: irregular collections of houses in bright colors. Of course it’s worth a visit at night. When the sun sets and the city becomes a sea of lights, this place gives it a very special magic.
Cultural program and culinary delights on the Alameda Chabuca Granda
Anyone who not only comes to Lima to see the places of interest, but also to immerse themselves in the cultural life of the foreign land and to see and try things that are definitely not found in their home, is right in the Alameda Chabuca Granda,
A market offers visitors culinary delights: typical Peruvian dishes and desserts. If you have enough, you can take a walk in the park and see what else it has to offer. Due to the fact that the place has several amphitheatres and stages, in which dance performances are presented, Creole music and cabaret are performed.
That the South Americans love music is no secret. Thus, the naming of the place after the singer is no coincidence. It is always worthwhile to stop by spontaneously and to listen to the performances.
